Grateful for all the replies and encouraged by the challenges you guys are taking on. Keep doing the work. Let’s get into this week’s conversation.
What do you want?
Most men know what they don’t want. The unfulfilling job. The cold marriage. The extra weight. The anxiety. The doubt.
But what do you want? Almost half of the men in our survey said they lack clear purpose in their life.
When I ask leaders I work with what they want, the most common answer is, “I’ve never considered what I want.” We get busy chasing and providing for the dreams of everyone else, but never stop to think about what it is that we want. What it is that we are actually pursuing. Who it is that we’re trying to become.
And without vision, you drift.
Without vision, you settle for the easy thing.
Without vision, you pursue comfort.
Without vision, you live someone else’s.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be looking at the idea of vision and how to create the necessary change to move toward that vision. It’s a formula we use called The Change Equation.
But it starts by answering the question: What do you actually want?
Don’t self edit. Don’t worry about what someone may think. Just be honest with yourself about what you want. And why you want it. And you can have several visions, by the way. It’s not safe while driving, but it is safe for life. You can have a vision for your career, for your relationships, for your parenting, for your health, etc.
📌 QUOTE OF THE WEEK "I can teach anybody to get what they want out of life. The problem is I can’t find anybody who can tell me what they want." - Mark Twain
TWO ANCHORS
🧠 INSIGHT: Vision guides your decisions. When you know what you want and who you want to be, you know what to say “yes” to and what to say “no” to. Vision is the compass that lights our path. Which means with no vision, you wander aimlessly.
💪 DISCIPLINE: Vision also creates discipline. It holds you accountable to doing the things that move you forward, the thing you said you want. Without vision, we do the “right” thing every now and then but never make progress.
NO DRIFT CHALLENGE
This week: Take some time to get clear on what you want. Then commit to one action each day that moves you toward that vision. Don’t end the day unless you’ve taken the action.
I’d love to hear what challenge you take on this week. Reply to this email to let me know. Even better, post it on Instagram and tag @no.drift. Let’s build a community of encouragement there.
EYES FORWARD
When we don’t know where we are going, we live accidentally. When we have a strong, clear vision, it allows us to live intentionally.
Be someone who shows up on purpose this week.
For you,
Kevin
Thanks for reading this. Share it with anybody you think would find it useful. And as a reminder, NO DRIFT is not mine it is ours. I want to know what you think, what you want to hear about, what you are learning. All feedback is welcomed.
You wouldn’t allow unmanaged devices on your network, so why allow unmanaged AI into your meetings?
Shadow IT is becoming one of the biggest blind spots in cybersecurity.
Employees are adopting AI notetakers without oversight, creating ungoverned data trails that can include confidential conversations and sensitive IP.
Don't wait until it's too late.
This Shadow IT prevention guide from Fellow.ai gives Security and IT leaders a playbook to prevent shadow AI, reduce data exposure, and enforce safe AI adoption, without slowing down innovation.
It includes a checklist, policy templates, and internal comms examples you can use today.
