Out there or In you?
I connected with a new friend recently who dropped this quote a few minutes into the conversation:
The whole tree is in the seed.
What a line. The whole tree is in the seed. (Emails about trees two weeks in a row. Not mad about it)
Your full potential is within you. It always has been. There’s nothing outside of you that changes it. It is simply a process of believing that, and slowly becoming.
I think the lies of the world tell us we need more. That we need to do more, get more, try more. That we don’t have enough and we aren’t enough. That what we really want is out there and not in here. And when we believe that, we get off the path. We strive. We compromise. All with good intentions, but still aimed in the wrong direction.
And yet the truth is, like the seed, your full potential is within you. You don’t need to become something else, you simply need the conditions that allow you to become who you were meant to be. Like the tree, a seed doesn't grow in the environment that protects it. It grows in the one that demands something from it.
The conditions, for you, are your mind. It is your belief system. Because your being informs your doing. If you believe in who you are, you can grow into it. If you do not, you stifle your growth. And while the seed doesn’t get to choose the wind, you do get to choose what you believe about yourself.
The question is this: what lies have you believed about your potential? And where did you learn them? How would believing better change the way that you showed up?
The tree is within you. Let it grow. 🌳
Live above the line.
For you,
Kevin
