We had a couple of spots open up in one of our 6-month NO DRIFT cohorts. If youโre interested, reply to this email for info.
REJECTING AVERAGE
There is a law in physics called Entropy.
In simple terms, it means that everything in the universe naturally moves from order to disorder.
If you leave a hot cup of coffee on the counter, it doesn't stay hot. It gets cold.
If you leave a garden alone, weeds don't disappear. They take over.
If you stop working out, your muscles don't maintain. They atrophy.
This is the norm. This is the average. This is the battle. Which is why Rule #2 of NO DRIFT is this:
Reject Average.
We tend to think of "average" as a safe middle ground. We think of it as a place where we can rest.
We are wrong.
Average is not a destination. Average is a downward slope.
โA dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it." - G.K. Chesterton
The moment you stop injecting energy into your marriage, it doesnโt stay "good." It begins to slide toward disconnection. The moment you stop injecting energy into your standards, they don't stay "okay." They slide toward mediocrity.
The universe is actively trying to pull you down. It is trying to make you softer, slower, and less effective. That is the natural order of things. Look around you. That is average. is that what you want?
"Drift" is simply what happens when you stop fighting gravity.
Most men are drifting because they are waiting for life to get easier. They are waiting for a time when they can coast. But you cannot coast uphill.
To be elite - to consistently live above the line - requires you to pay a tax every single day. That tax is not just effort, but intentional effort. And it is a battle.
You have to fight to keep your body strong.
You have to fight to keep your mind sharp.
You have to fight to keep your relationship alive.
If you aren't fighting, you are losing.
Look at your life this week. Where have you stopped pushing? Where have you accepted "good enough" because you are tired of fighting gravity?
That is where the rot sets in.
Reject average. Defy gravity. Fight back.
Live above the line.
For you,
Kevin
