Last week we talked about vision. Hopefully you’ve wrestled with the question: What do I actually want?
I loved the replies I got - men sharing what they’re chasing and what needs to change to make it real. I should’ve mentioned last week but if you want some help sorting through that, I’d love to chat 1:1. Just reply to this email and we’ll set up a time.
A few of you asked what I want. Here’s where I’m at right now:
To be strong and active for as long as I can - for my family and my work.
To make enough money to do the things I want to do (for my family and for impact in the world).
To live boldly into my God-given identity. That shapes everything - my work, marriage, parenting.
To maximize my time and influence helping others do the same.
To be significant, not famous. (Significance for me = leaving a memorable impact on the people around me.)
That brings me to one of the best lines a mentor ever gave me:
“Show me your calendar and your bank account, and I’ll tell you what you’re about.”
We all talk about what we want. We even convince ourselves we’re chasing it. But your time and money don’t lie. They expose what you truly value. As I asked a client recently who said they want to get healthy, “When last week did you work on getting healthy? What about the week before? Last month?” Nothing. Our want must drive our work.
Which means most of us have to change. Why? Because to keep doing what we’ve been doing and expect different results is what? Insanity.
And change is hard. It always meets resistance (we’ll talk more about that next week). That’s why most people stay stuck. That’s why most men settle.
But not you. If you’re reading this, you’ve already taken a step toward a stronger version of yourself. Now it’s time to take another.
Your vision isn’t waiting for more information, it’s waiting for action and accountability.
📌 QUOTE OF THE WEEK "Everyone wants the mountaintop view. Nobody wants the climb."
TWO ANCHORS
🧠 INSIGHT: Most people want the results without the work. The success without the cost. But change isn’t optional. Getting better will cost you something. Prepare to sacrifice.
💪 DISCIPLINE: Habits are about consistency. It’s not perfection, but consistent progress. James Clear mentions in Atomic Habits that everyone has an off day, but try not to have two in a row. That is how you build a lifetime of discipline.
NO DRIFT CHALLENGE
This week: pick one change and commit to it for 7 days straight.
Daily action creates two things:
Confidence – you prove to yourself you can.
Momentum – small wins stack up fast.
7 days of action = 7x the output of once-a-week effort.
I’d love to hear what discipline you take on this week. Reply to this email to let me know. Even better, post it on Instagram and tag @no.drift. Let’s build a community of encouragement there.
CLOSING THOUGHT
Change is always happening to us, either accidentally or intentionally. Let’s be intentional this week.
For you,
Kevin
Thanks for reading this. Share it with anybody you think would find it useful. And as a reminder, NO DRIFT is not mine it is ours. I want to know what you think, what you want to hear about, what you are learning. All feedback is welcomed.
