Pay Attention
I wrote a few weeks ago about the idea of not waiting until everything is “right” or “ready” or “slower” before you take action. Before you get back to doing the things you know you need to do.
But another common thing I see in men - maybe even more than waiting for the perfect circumstances - is waiting until things are broken. They think that because things are fine, they can take their eyes off the road. It’s the same thing I see in teams and companies I work with after a big win or a good month/quarter. “Hey, we hit our goals. We’re good to go.” And they stop doing the things that made them successful.
Then all of a sudden they find themselves on the wrong side of their goals.
We tend to do the same thing.
Marriage is “fine” so I don’t need to have a date night.
Health is “fine” so I don’t need to work out.
Career is “fine” so I don’t need to work on my leadership.
And suddenly, what was “fine” isn’t fine anymore. We drift, we don’t course correct, and 6 months later we’re in crisis mode.
The best way to not have a broken marriage/health/career/mindset is to stay intentional. To be consistent with habits, with our standard. To not get complacent.
Stay locked in even when things are “fine” in your life.
Live above the line.
For you,
Kevin
